How the Princess of Wales reached for favourite pieces for Commonwealth Day service

The Princess of Wales attended the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration at Westminster Abbey, after missing a year through illness, and she went with several favourite pieces from her wardrobe.

Following an announcement from Kensington Palace earlier in the year that staff would not be commenting on her fashion, Catherine wore repeated items as many royal watchers expected.

She wore a bold scarlet wool coat dress from favourite British designer Catherine Walker. The midi-length pleated coat dress has an asymmetric bow at the neckline.

The Princess of Wales originally wore the Catherine Walker piece for her December 2021 carol service and again in 2023 during the South Korean State Visit.

In addition to her beloved Gianvito Rossi heels, she carried a clutch from Miu Miu and wore a Gina Foster cocktail hat.

Her Royal Highness also wore a piece that first belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. The four-strand pearl choker that features a unique, tear-drop shaped clasp at the base of the throat. Catherine first wore the piece in 2017 for an event celebrating the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary, and again in 2021 to Prince Philip’s funeral.

The Prince and Princess of Wales joined King Charles and Queen Camilla, the Princess Royal, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester on Monday to celebrate Commonwealth Day. Both The King and the Princess of Wales were forced to miss the service last year due to their cancer diagnoses and treatments.
