New month, new gear, baby! The guitar goblins at IK Multimedia have again blessed us with a new monthly giveaway for AmpliTube 5 CS, and this time, it’s for a pair of rack FX modules: Black 76 FET and Saturator-X. 

Throughout November, the company will be giving away the Black 76 FET compressor/limiter and Saturator-X multi-mode harmonic saturation module through the official website.

These freebies are modules within AmpliTube 5 CS, a free 64-bit-only guitar and bass workstation for macOS and Windows. 

They’re the penultimate giveaways for the year, with just the December giveaway remaining in the long-running promo. 

IK Multimedia calls it the rockin’ rack giveaway, and we know all producers love a rockin’ rack, so let’s see what’s on offer this time around. 

The Black 76 comp and limiter is modelled after the Universal Audio 1176 Rev E, and that heritage is clear even from just looking at the distinctive retro black interface.

The 1176 is an iconic hardware limiter that has been extensively used on countless classic records. 

The Black 76 emulates the response of the unit, which is driven largely by the unique sound of the input transformer and class A output stage.

As for the Saturator-X, it’s a comprehensive and versatile saturation module with 10 modes of operation. 

IK’s emulation produces the satch tone of various electronic components pushed to the limit and can deliver sounds ranging from lowkey harmonic enhancement to balls-to-the-wall distortion. 

The company has already given out a bunch of amps and effects pedals earlier in the year, so these rack modules are a natural choice for shaping the tones of the collection of amps we’ve all built up now. 

IK Multimedia has attempted to limit this giveaway to just new signups in November. 

But of course, I’m happy to share a little workaround that will allow existing users to get the free goodies. 

To access the freebies with an existing account, open the IK Multimedia Product Manager, unauthorize AmpliTube 5 CS, and then re-authorize AmpliTube 5 CS. 

Hitting the ‘refresh your purchases’ button when you’re done will also help the process click along and deliver the goodies. 

Note that to get the free gear, you’ll need to make sure that your computer is the only one that you have Amplitube 5 CS authorized on. 

If you have a dead computer that still has an authorized version of Amplitube 5 CS on it, then unfortunately this method will not work. Sadly, several users have reported that there is no workaround for that issue.
