Moonwave FX’s Aperture Single Knob Filter is FREE at Pluginomat

Moonwave FX’s recently released Aperture single knob filter plugin (usually $24.95) is currently free at Pluginomat.

The plugin is a macOS and Windows release for VST3 and AU.

Moonwave FX describes Aperture as a selective filter that is a powerful tool for shaping and cutting frequencies. The developer suggests applications such as cutting through low-end fog or isolating high-end shimmer.

The plugin control scheme features a single knob controlling the filter, a switch that allows you to choose between high-pass and low-pass filters, and Input and Output gain controls.

I don’t know how long the freebie will be available, so it’s probably a good idea to get in quickly.

Acquiring Aperture for free requires a bit of a process that involves both the Pluginomat and Moonwave FX websites.

To kick off the process, add Aperture to your cart on the Pluginomat, click through again to the final order page, and provide an email address and shipping info (not that any physical shipment will happen).

You’ll then be forwarded to a page that lists your Aperture license key and provides a link to the Moonwave FX redeem guide, which is a downloadable PDF file.

The guide outlines a four-step process that involves creating (or logging in to) a free Moonwave FX account, registering the plugin, and then, from your Moonwave FX account, downloading and installing the plugin.

Overall, there are quite a few steps involved, but none of them are particularly complex, so it shouldn’t take all that long to get up and running with Aperture.

Please note that the freebie deal is only available at Pluginomat, and you can’t get a free license key from the Moonwave FX website.

Moonwave FX debuted Aperture on October 14, 2024, so it’s still quite a new release.

If you’d like to hear what the filter can do, Moonwave FX produced a YouTube demo that shows three synth parts and a guitar part with the plugin off and on.

To my ears, the demos showcase a fairly subtle effect that succeeds in taking stock-sounding parts and then adding some texture, movement, and overall a more distinctive sound. It also substantially changes how the original parts are EQed.

Aperture has a “software size” of approximately 550 MB and works with all major DAWs except Pro-Tools.
