Pitch Perfekt is a new release from Algoriffix, an audio developer focused on AI technology.
Do you ever struggle with programming MIDI parts using a MIDI keyboard? Coming up with melodies using a keyboard can be difficult if it’s not your main instrument.
You may have the perfect melody in your head and be able to hum it pretty well, but translating that to a keyboard might be challenging.
Today, we’ll look at a really cool product that will be very useful in these situations.
Using AI, the Pitch Perfekt plugin allows you to sing into your mic and transcribe it into MIDI in real time.
And, of course, you can load up your favorite synth or sampled instrument and go to town, essentially using your voice as the MIDI controller.
Now, I couldn’t find any current video demos of Pitch Perfekt, which is unfortunate. But I found a 2-year-old video on the Algoriffix YouTube channel where they showcase a similar plugin.

They show how you can improvise melodies using your voice and have the plugin transcribe to MIDI in real time.
And they’ve used a MIDI instrument (a saxophone in this case) to play back the melody, again, in real-time.
This is an interesting way to capture your musical ideas and may come in handy in many situations. Similar to the good old voice memo app but with direct MIDI transcription.
This old plugin from the video seems to be a bit rough around the edges, with some bum note detections.
But just from the look of Pitch Perfekt, it’s clear they’ve put a lot of work into it, and it makes me think the note detection has most likely improved as well.
MIDI transcription can be done either in real-time as we mentioned, or by dragging and dropping a pre-recorded WAV, MP3, or AIFF file.
Pitch Perfekt then gives you features like key and melody tracking, scale enforcement, and low latency to improve pitch detection.
Setting up this plugin seems to require some work so be sure to check the user guide from Algoriffix when trying it.
Pitch Perfekt is available as a VST3 and AU plugin and a standalone program for Windows and macOS.
