She was born to be queen and this future monarch already has a very regal party trick. Catharina-Amalia, first in line to the Dutch throne, reckons she could name just about any royal tiara in Europe.
The Princess of Orange, who will one day reign as Queen of the Netherlands, has previously laid down a very glittery challenge, saying ‘‘show me a tiara, and I’ll know where it came from.”

Catharina-Amalia, 21, doesn’t have far to look for some of the most stunning sparklers on the continent. The Dutch Royal Family owns a selection of exquisite tiaras that have belonged to a series of queens and princesses.
And the queen to be has already tried out several, most notably a famous ruby and diamond creation that she was once snapped in as she played dress up as her mum got ready for a big royal event.

The Mellerio tiara features large oval rubies set among diamond scrolls and Amalia put it on when she was nine when she found it on the dressing table of her mother, Queen Maxima. The family took a photo of the moment and it was published in an official biography by Claudia de Breij released to mark Catharina-Amalia’s 18th birthday in 2021.
The princess told her biographer about her interest in royal gems, saying ”I love tiaras’.
And her passion extends outside of her own family’s collection. In fact, Amalia reckons she could beat anyone hands down in a jewel quiz, saying ‘‘I can recognize all the tiaras of Europe.”
It’s a royal party trick like no other.
