A Sound Effect has launched a new online platform for music creation, where you get access to over 1000 sound effects and 100+ free customizable music tracks.

With that, you also get a browser-based DAW interface. And best of all, it’s free! 

This collection includes a wide variety of sounds—everything from ambience to mechanical and industrial sounds to birds and much more.

You can also find sounds of guns, flowing lava, and pigeon wings. There’s even a fart sample in there. Because why not!

The pack includes a wide variety of music tracks, too: You get access to styles ranging from chill hop, acoustic guitar, and piano-driven pop to EDM, blues rock, lo-fi jazz, and more!

The registration process for A Sound Effect Cloud is very straightforward and I was able to create an account and get it going in no time.

Once you’re in, you’ll gain access to the online DAW platform. I could not find any video previews or walkthroughs, but I’ll give you some of my observations.

The interface is fairly simple. You can preview the sounds, scroll through them, add them to your timeline, or choose a direct download to your computer.

Then you can mix different sounds together, cut them up, and move them around, like how you would in a DAW. 

I did not see a snap to the grid though. Maybe that’s something they’ll add in the future.

Anyway, after you’re happy with the track, you can export it, or save the project for later.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of using pre-made tracks for composing music. But I feel like A Sound Effect Cloud can be a nice starting point if you’re looking to learn music production.

Being able to adjust the mix of the different elements, and isolating them can be fun to play around with.

And it’s a great way to pick up some tips and tricks that you can use for your own productions.

While there aren’t any plugins, or advanced features, I think this platform is fun to use.

Moreover, since A Sound Effect Cloud is browser-based, you can access it from any machine, without needing to be in your studio space.

A Sound Effect Cloud is a collection of free audio samples of sound effects and music, plus a simple browser-based DAW.

When using these samples, no attribution is required, but A Sound Effect would “love a mention and link back to cloud.asoundeffect.com in your project, if possible”.
