Monaco’s royals come out at ‘sunset’ for the Rose Ball

The glitzy Mediterranean city of Monte Carlo transformed into ‘a lush Caribbean forest’ at last night’s Rose Ball, and the royals came out to celebrate.

The Bal de la Rose—the Rose Ball—has long been the most glamorous event on the calendar in Monaco, and at Princess Caroline’s direction, was turned into the ‘Sunset Bal de la Rose.’

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene led the royal family, which included Princess Caroline, Andrea Casiraghi, Tatiana Casiraghi, Charlotte Casiraghi, Pierre Casiraghi, Beatrice Casiraghi and Princess Alexandra of Hanover through an exotic rain forest designed by Christian Louboutin.

The Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, which plays host to the event, shared on its official website that their ballroom was “transformed into a lush Caribbean forest, where roses and exotic flowers bloom” and “where guests will find a small beach café called the ‘Monaco Sunset Bar’ before sitting down with their feet in the sand to admire the sunset, to the sounds of reggaeton and Caribbean music.”

While the Bal de la Rose was founded in 1954, since 1964, all founds have been donated to the Princess Grace Foundation.

Princess Caroline now runs her late mother’s foundation, which operates with the dual missions of supporting humanitarian causes—namely children who have been hospitalised—and cultural causes.

An American branch was formed in 1982, after Princess Grace’s death, to support artists in all disciplines get the career boost to break into the mainstream.

The Prince’s Palace shared photos of the Sunset Bal de la Rose calling it “a magical evening in the colors of the Caribbean” and “an exceptional charity evening.”
